I really love Catavino – it’s such an informative and innovative source of information on Spanish & Portuguese wines. The food of the region is key, but it’s just as vital to know about the great wines available too. This is the place to find out!
2002 Bodegas Fontana La Mancha Fontal Crianza – Spain, Castilla-La Mancha, La Mancha (5/16/2006)
85% tempranillo 15% cabernet sauvignon
12 months US oak
Deep maroonish in color. the nose shows a rich raspberry, with cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla bean, and minty chocolate. Medium tannins and a soft mid weight acidity help support the nice fruit.Ffresh raspberries and light cinnamon follow the nose onto the palate. Alcohol is noticable on the palate though not distracting and this wine did improve with some air.
