60% Tempranillo and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12 months in barrel
Dark ruby color that has a beautiful consistency reminding me of both a texture and color that would be found in a royal chamber. On the nose, strong notes of coffee, plumes and dark cherry come forth with a slight vegetable or forest aroma in the background. Very light body and structure with medium acidity. On the palate, a strong blackcurrent flavor followed by hints of vanilla and charred wood. Overall, a very nice well structured wine.
Catavino evolved from the wanderings of an American couple who craved a radical change in perspective. In 2005 they quit their jobs, moved to Spain and dug deep into the local gastronomy.
