Sherry Rooftop Tasting Video

We realize it’s been awhile since we’ve done a rooftop tasting, but we found that it was too difficult to both drink and tape ourselves, kind of like patting your head and rubbing your stomach at the same time. Obviously, we needed help, and Andres was our man! Bringing his girlfriend Aisha (the only other female towering over my munchkin self) we spent the evening learning about Sherry, eating great tapas and doing what we do best, enjoying yet another Terrassa sunset!

Video Summary:

Sherry Wines Tasted
We tasted four Sherry wines and will be posting Bodega Profiles on each winery in the coming week.

N.V. Emilio Lustau Jerez-Xérès-Sherry Puerto Fino
N.V. Hijos de Rainera Perez Marin Jerez-Xérès-Sherry “La Guita” Manzanilla
N.V. Bodegas Gran Mariscal Jerez-Xérès-Sherry Amontillado “Muy Vieja”
N.V. Bodegas Gran Mariscal Jerez-Xérès-Sherry Oloroso Viejisimo “Monte Alto”

Amontillado Sherry
You will notice in the video that Ryan tried with all his might to remember the title of this Edgar Allen Poe short story about Amontillado Sherry, and although he didn’t awake at 3am with the title, we did include a link to the story below:

Ryan’s Tasting Notes

  • N.V. Emilio Lustau Jerez-Xérès-Sherry Puerto Fino - Spain, Andalucía, Jerez-Xérès-Sherry (7/20/2007)
Light in color, the nose is so complex and enjoyable I find my nose at the glass more than my lips. Nutty raw almond notes, combine with honeydew, sea breeze, buttercups(flowers), and fresh air! Delicate in the mouth while at the same time a bit zingy with a vibrancy that reminds me of a cold shower. White flowers, salted melon, and the sensation of fresh crush nuts mixed with the flor that protected the wine for so long. This wine is very enjoyable and the finish lingers in your mouth for what seems like forever.
