IberWine 2005 – Madrid Wine Expo
Just want to notify everyone that this November 29, 30th and December 1st, in
Wines from the whole of the [Iberian Peninsula->http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iberian_Peninsula] will have the opportunity to globally project their qualities to a long list of international buyers as well as those from within the peninsula. The excellent results of the last edition of the Madrid International
Wine Fair, both in terms of turnover and the repercussion of the event on professionals within the sector and the media, consolidate once and for all what the wine sector was missing: a monographic trade fair for the sector that can compete on an international level with the other trade fairs in other wine-producing countries, and in a city which as well as being the capital of the country with the largest area of vineyards in the world, is a first-rate buying centre.
Ok so the English translation they provide is not the best, I’m starting to get used to this, though I still don’t know why someone doesn’t hire a native speaker to help them out. On the other hand, you can see that the main goal is to help raise awareness of Spanish and Portuguese wines, wait that [sounds like my goal->http://www.catavino.net/?page_id=6], while at the same time getting buyers in contact with producers.

Mainly I wanted to let you know that last week I was at Iberwine and met a lot of interesting people while tasting a ton of Spanish wine and Portuguese wine. So expect a few stories. Read a little about the results here. On top of that last Friday I had the chance to taste 18 of the 2003 vintage ports. All I have to say is wow! Big and beautiful, I’ll have my notes up some time in the next week. Below I’m posting a few notes I took at Iberwine, from the Pago’s de Espana booth. Basically these are properties that are not playing by the DO system, and claiming that their vineyards are unique and different.
