Catavino Co-Hosts the London Wine and Food Blogger’s Meetup!

Submitted by Gabriella on Thursday, 7 May 200913 Comments |

The Westbridge Bar in LondonAs many of you are aware, we’ll be at the London International Wine Fair next week conducting interviews, giving talks on Social Media and Blogging, promoting the 2009 European Wine Blogger’s Conference in Lisbon, and of course, tasting a ridiculous amount of Spanish and Portuguese wines. However, in addition to this, and with the wonderful help of Niamh Shields from Eat Like A Girl, we will co-host a London Wine and Food Blogger’s Meet-up at The Westbridge.

On May 13th, approximately 30 wine and food bloggers will gather together for a wine tasting presented by Catavino! Although the wine list is not entirely confirmed as of yet, we have had generous contributions offered by Abadia Retuerta, Dinastia Vivanco, Quevedo, Cortes de Cima and Tintoralba. In addition, our dear friend Charlie McVeigh, manager of The Westbridge, has offered his space, as well as an amazing cured meat and cheese platter for us to enjoy during the tasting, which will most likely include (though may change slightly dependent on last minute creative genius):

Cured Meats
Salami de Napoli and a Prosciutto Crudo

Hard
Tete de Moines (Swiss alpine, rich and sweet)
Tomette Agour Brebis du Pays (delicate hard sheep)

Creamy
Camembert Artisan Gillot Noir AOC (raw, strong Camembert)
Brillat-Savarin (triple creme)

Aromatic
Livarot Graindorge (meaty, pungent)
Banon Tradition wrapped in Chestnut Leaves (creamy powerful goat)

Goat
Cloche Artisan Chevrechard (piquant Touraine Goat)
Rosary Ash Log (light, fresh and our only British entry)

In addition, Henrietta Lovell from the Rare Tea Company will be offering a lesson in tea and its use as a light, refreshing cleansing agent for the palate when wine tasting. This will be a completely new experience to me, but one I am completely game to try!

If you’re a wine or food blogger, and are interested in attending, please leave a comment below. The cost for the tasting is £10, and will be held at The Westbridge – address listed on the site.

After the tasting, Charlie will offer a special fixed price menu exclusively for bloggers. For £ 22.50, you can enjoy a small sampling of the Westbridge’s specialties!

3 Dorset Rock Oysters
1/2 Pint of Prawns
Steak Frites
Choice of Pudding

Space is limited, so if you are interested in joining us, please let us know asap!

Cheers,

Gabriella Opaz
