Of all the wineries we visited on our trip, this was by far the most state of the art and inventive. Sleek and precise, it’s as if their world renowned museum was extended beyond its 9,000 square meter area to encompass the entire estate. If you haven’t visited this winery, do so! If not for the museum, than to experience a winery that could easily be mistaken for a set of a space age film.

Where did this all begin? Since 1915, Pedro Vivanco Gonzalez has been crafting wines, but it wasn’t until their son Pedro Vivanco Paracuellos became a certified winemaker and viticulturist that the winery created a name for itself, both buying and selling wine. Come the third generation, Pedro’s two sons took over their father’s passion: Santiago took ownership of both the administration of the winery and the Vivanco foundation, while Raphael dove into into both the viticultural and winemaking end of the business. The majority of their 450 hectares of vineyards are located around Logroño, Briones and Haro, planted with Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano, Mazuelo, Viura and Malvasia. All of their oak barrels are made with both American and French oak.

Wines Produced: Crianza, Reserva
