We’re big fans of building websites with CMS (content management systems), WordPress being our favorite. Our clients are constantly amazed that our websites are easy to update, manipulate and customize. Plus, we enjoy supporting open source! However, we know it’s not for everyone.
But even if CMS is not your cup of tea, creating an overly complex website is useless to both the owner of the site (hard to update) and to the end user (hard to navigate).
Yesterday, I came across one site though that got it right. Sure, there are some things I would change, but in the end, this site is as close to perfect as you can get when designing a winery website.
- Pure HTML so it’s viewable in all browsers
- easy to navigate
- wine information within one click
- contact the winery in one click
Wineries listen up! Dirk makes great wines! So great, that he inspires us to create wines of equal quality. But guess what? He also makes a great website, and you just might want to aspire to that too.
