Collaboration NOT Competition

When you work as a team, you can sell more wine. No wait, you WILL sell more wine! Over the past 5 years, we’ve realized that one of the major barriers facing wineries in Iberia is pride and jealousy, fearing that their neighbors will steal their “rightful” business. Unfortunately, the truth couldn’t be opposite. The more you work together, the more wine everyone sells. This atmosphere of envy, and notion that your fellow winemakers are your competition, rather than your collaborators, is leading to declining wine sales.

From wine fairs featuring 3 Rioja stands, as result of political and budget boundaries, to Catalan winemakers refusing to admit their winery’s location is within the country of Spain, wine competition is making everyone suffer!

This past week at the London International Wine Fair, Catavino invited 2 wineries from to DIFFERENT countries to taste each others wines and share their thoughts. In fact, we asked them to try and sell each others wines. What resulted was not only a great time, but a prime example of how collaboration can help your winery and your brand. The more we wine lovers, makers, and sellers work together to promote wine globally, the sooner we will all see the benefits.

Enjoy the video and tell us how you plan to collaborate in the future!!!

    Ryan & Gabriella…great piece.

Unless a winery is very large resources are limited…it is imperative that wineries learn that in the changing world of today's consumers trying to fight each other will only hurt…united they stand…divided they will probably lose their shirts.
