Household consumption by volume also increased in the period, by 1.6% compared to the corresponding period last year, reaching 107.7m litres. The average retail price was up by 3.4%, to $2.10 per litre.

Total wine consumption in Spain fell during the period, however, to 156.7m litres, the ministry said.
