Households Spending On Wine Up In Spain!
Domestic spending on wine in Spain increased slightly in the first quarter of this year, according to recent figures. The Spanish Ministry of Agriculture and the Spanish Wine Federation (FEV) said yesterday (7 July) that Spanish households spent $225.7m in the first three months of 2005, an increase of 5.1% year-on-year.
Household consumption by volume also increased in the period, by 1.6% compared to the corresponding period last year, reaching 107.7m litres. The average retail price was up by 3.4%, to $2.10 per litre.
Total wine consumption in Spain fell during the period, however, to 156.7m litres, the ministry said.
