If were to say “Spain” to you, there are a few very distinct images that would come to mind. The delicious Valencian rice dish of paella. The long stretch of beach that surround the peninsula complete with chiringuitos serving Sangria. And of course, Flamenco.
Hence for you to leave Spain without having seen this stunning art would be a crime, but understandably, where do you go? Many of the Flamenco clubs are geared specifically to tourists where a second rate show is put on to appease the masses. Clearly, this is not our calling.
Part of what makes Flamenco unique and enticing is its improvisation, where no two songs are ever played the same. Equally true, the raw passion involved in a performance might leave you with gasping breaths, and a very strong desire for a drink. This is the point. A great performance can be felt in the bones, and imprint a memory that will never be forgotten. That’s our goal, a native local experience.
Locals who love flamenco tend to go to “peñas”, which are like private clubs, where casual visitors may not be welcome and which might feel a bit intimidating. We’ll head there together, where we’ll help decipher the history, culture and rhythm of “real” Flamenco.
