On March 15, 2020, Catavino officially closed our shop for the short term. Admittedly, this wasn’t an easy decision, but with COVID19 cases on the rise, and government-mandated closure just around the corner, it was time. On the bright side, our team could easily work from home to create new Portuguese and Spanish adventures for travelers who need a much-deserved break.
Catavino was founded in 2005 by two very curious people who were keen to share their adventures throughout Portugal and Spain. 10 years later, we converted that content into Catavino Tours, with the mission of sharing real stories from real people who are passionate about their history, culture, and gastronomy. These “real people” are not just partners, but friends for whom we’ve shared meals, holidays, and experiences with since we moved to Europe 15 years ago.
Today, as we sit safely in our homes, there is still a deep desire to connect. Hence, if any of you want to chat, ask questions, or simply share stories, we want to hear from you! Contact us at [email protected] to schedule a time, or reach out on one of our many channels such as Instagram or Facebook. On our end, we will continue the dialogue from home with a series of new projects: some paid, some free, but all focused on stories we can share.
On May 9th, at 3pm EST / 8pm BST, we’re hosting our inaugural Port wine 101. During this exclusive online class, we are going to give you the basics to this noble beverage. How it is made, how it is regulated, where it comes from and more! Ryan will make this experience highly engaging, interactive and will tackle any questions you can throw at him. So start making your list. For those that don’t know Ryan is a CPE(Certified Port Wine Educator) and knight of the Port Wine Brotherhood. The class costs 20€ and 100% of the proceeds go towards helping us make more great content for you!
You can also join us on Instagram, where we’ll be posting several more opportunities to experience Portugal and Spain with live Q&A’s and podcasts with old friends.
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time and energy to check in on us. We so appreciate your generosity and support, and we look forward to hosting you in the very near future.
Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay home. We’ll do our best to continue our journey together!
