Photographer: Rui Santos Costa
Capture Date: June 27th, 2014
Location: Mesão Frio (Douro Scala), Portugal
About: This photo was taken during our family vacation at Quinta do Paço de Cidadelhe. I normally take all of my gear with me, as I enjoy taking morning walks in the early morning. However on this particular day, I kicked off an hour later than scheduled. I distinctly remember it being a very, very cold morning and that the fog hung low over the vineyards until breakfast. To be honest, I was just about to give up shooting when I looked to my right and saw a huge foggy mass flowing down towards the river bed. The clouds were perfect, the light was ideal and the location couldn’t be more stunning. I took the shot, and a couple of minutes later, the whole scene was disassembled.
Shot with a Canon EF-S 10-22mm on a Canon 7D using a Manfrotto tripod (Manfrotto 055XPROB + 804RC2 head) and a L.C.W. 77mm ND500 filter. EXIF: 4.0 sec.; f/13; ISO 200; 10mm.
